It sounds like Edge will also be part of the highly-anticipated SummerSlam 2021 event, set for Aug. 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Citing a source, WrestleVotes  is reporting that the "idea as of now is for" Edge to face Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, inside Allegiant Stadium. This would mark the first ever showdown between the Hall of Famer — who ended a nine-year retirement last year — and the former WWE Champion.

Multiple reports suggest that Universal Champion Roman Reigns will headline SummerSlam with John Cena. The latter hasn't appeared on WWE programming since WrestleMania 36. So of course, a showdown with Reigns for the Biggest Party of the Summer would go a long way in making the show that much more enticing. Throw in a singles match between Edge and Rollins, and SummerSlam 2021 certainly has the feel of a WrestleMania.

Edge made his thrilling in-ring return at Royal Rumble 2020, reaching the final three before he was eliminated by Reigns. The Rated-R Superstar suffered a torn triceps in his match with Randy Orton at Backlash 2020, sidelining him until this year's Royal Rumble. He returned at the event and won the men's match, challenging Reigns and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat bout for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37.

Reigns went on to win the match —  pinning both Bryan and Edge —  and the Ultimate Opportunist has been kept off of television ever since. But with SummerSlam now just two months away, we can expect to see Edge much sooner rather than later.

Edge Vs Seth Rollins For The First Time?

As noted above, Edge has never faced Rollins one-on-one. The latter only debuted on WWE's main roster in 2012, more than a year after Edge retired. The two superstars were both involved in the men's 2020 and 2021 Royal Rumble matches, but that's obviously as close as we've gotten to the marquee showdown. But if fans get their wish, we'll see one of the all-time greats go toe-to-toe with one of the top superstars of this era.
